Snow Forecast For The Capital This Week

Snow Forecast For The Capital This Week. Londoners have been warned sleet and snow could hit the capital as temperatures plunge this week.

The Met Office has announced that milder temperatures expected at the beginning of the week will plummet on Wednesday night as “wintry showers” travel across the UK and through the Channel.

“There is a risk of some snow and sleety weather on Thursday and possibly also Friday – mainly in the form of showers,” a forecaster told the Standard.

“It is difficult to gauge how much snow but it looks like a slight covering and it will feel very very cold.

“Temperatures will stay around four or five degrees but a wind chill will make it feel colder.”

As the precipitation clears on Friday it is predicted that London will enjoy “clear blue skies” in the day but an Arctic cold wind that “will not be pleasant to be out in”.

“It is time to dig out the winter woollies,” the forecaster added.

The wintry weather is predicted to continue to the end of the week, with a risk of frosts overnight.

It comes as a deadly cold snap has gripped much of Europe in recent days, bringing snow to parts of Turkey and Greece.

Temperatures have fallen below -20C in parts of Poland during the cold spell.
