Breakthrough in Cold Case of Teen Missing for Nearly Three Decades
Nearly 28 years after 17-year-old Donna Keogh vanished without a trace, police have made a significant breakthrough. A 64-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder in Leeds, reigniting hope for answers in this long-standing mystery.

Donna was last seen in the heart of Middlesbrough town centre on April 28, 1998. Despite exhaustive searches, her body has never been recovered. Cleveland Police intensified their investigation recently, focusing efforts on Leeds, where Donna was known to have traveled the year she disappeared.
Police Arrest and Ongoing Inquiry
Detective Chief Inspector Steven Chatterton, leading the inquiry, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday following recent investigative developments. The suspect remains in police custody for questioning.
“This morning’s arrest is a direct outcome of our focused inquiries. We continue to urge anyone with information about Donna’s movements or interactions in Leeds in 1998 to come forward,” said DCI Chatterton.
He emphasized the emotional toll on Donna’s family, who have endured decades of uncertainty. “They deserve to know the truth. Someone out there holds vital information. We urge you to speak up—confidentially or anonymously.”
Community Appeals and Reward
Crimestoppers has offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to the resolution of Donna’s murder case, encouraging witnesses or anyone with details to assist the investigation.
In 2018, police excavated an allotment site on Teesside after discovering human remains, but forensic analysis determined the bones were from medieval times, offering no connection to Donna’s case.
