The close-knit community of Cambridgeshire mourns the loss of Eden Bunn, a 16-year-old described by her family as the “kindest, most loving girl,” following a harrowing car accident that sent a vehicle into the River Nene near Wisbech. The crash occurred around 8:20 pm on Tuesday, abruptly ending Eden’s young life and leaving an 18-year-old man missing.

Dive Teams Recover Eden’s Body; Search Continues for Missing Driver
Eden was one of five passengers in a blue Volkswagen Polo that veered off North Brink road in Wisbech St Mary, plunging into the river. Emergency divers recovered her body on Wednesday, while search efforts persist for Declan Berry, 18, from Wisbech, who is believed to have been behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Police and rescue services remain on high alert, navigating the challenging river conditions as they intensify their search for Declan. His family and friends have expressed profound grief, describing their devastation as “beyond words.”
Other Passengers Sustain Injuries; Some Discharged From Hospital
Three other occupants escaped the submerged vehicle and were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn with injuries that were not life-threatening. Among them, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man have since been discharged, while another 16-year-old girl remains hospitalized as of Thursday.
Eden, a resident of Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire, was reportedly seated in the rear of the car when the accident occurred.
Family Honors Eden’s Loving Spirit and Passion for Horses
In a heartfelt tribute, Eden’s parents Lisa and Dean Bunn, along with her brother Jay, sister Shelby, and nephew Axl, shared their sorrow: “Eden was the kindest, most loving girl we could ever wish for. Her horses—Daisy and Dolly—were her world, and she was ours. Words cannot express the depth of this tragedy that will haunt us until we meet her again.”

Ongoing Investigation and Community Appeal
Detective Inspector Craig Wheeler of Cambridgeshire Police emphasized the difficulty of the search due to the river’s nature and described the collision as “truly devastating for all involved.” He extended his sympathies to the families of both Eden and Declan during this harrowing time.
Authorities urge anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the blue VW Polo in the Wisbech area between 7:00 pm and 8:20 pm on Tuesday to come forward with information to assist the investigation.
