Police Hunt for Grant McKinnon Following Tragic Death of Elizabeth Colligan
Glasgow police are urgently searching for Grant McKinnon, 30, a man deemed dangerous and potentially in an agitated state, after the brutal killing of 82-year-old pensioner Elizabeth Colligan. The elderly woman was discovered gravely injured on Cardowan Road around 4 a.m. last Saturday and was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency responders’ efforts.
Ongoing Intensive Police Operations in Glasgow
Officers have launched an extensive manhunt, focusing on the Carntyne area where McKinnon was last spotted. Police Scotland emphasize that McKinnon may hold crucial information related to Ms. Colligan’s death, making this search a top priority.
Superintendent Craig Brady addressed the public in a Tuesday press conference, revealing: “Our dedicated team is working around the clock to locate Grant McKinnon. Evidence suggests he was in a disturbed and agitated state when last seen.”

Public Safety and Police Appeals
McKinnon stands approximately 6 feet tall, slim, with a shaved head. Witnesses last reported him wearing a black jacket with a red hood or red lining, paired with blue jeans. Authorities classify him as a high-risk individual and strongly advise the public not to approach him under any circumstances.
Superintendent Brady urged the community to remain vigilant: “Officers, including specialist dog units, continue thorough searches in multiple locations. We understand the heightened police presence may cause concern, but we are committed to ensuring safety and bringing this matter to a swift resolution.”
Residents who have information or suspect sightings of McKinnon should immediately call 999 or contact Police Scotland via 101. An online portal has also been established to facilitate direct submissions to the investigation team under Operation Duomo.
Community Cooperation Crucial in Ongoing Investigation
“We appeal to anyone who knows McKinnon’s whereabouts or has information to come forward urgently,” Superintendent Brady emphasized. “Your cooperation is vital, but remember: do not approach him. Contact the authorities immediately.”
