Tragic Shooting Claims Life of Nahom Medhanie in Camden
Nahom Medhanie, 26, was fatally shot while seated in his car near Euston station on Saturday night, sparking shock and grief across the community.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers responded to reports at approximately 11pm on Chalton Street, Camden, where Medhanie was declared dead at the scene after multiple gunshot wounds.

Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute
In a moving statement released through the police, Nahom’s family described him as more than just a son and brother: “Since his passing, it has been the hardest days of our lives. He was funny, honest and would just light up the room with his presence—those were the qualities we loved most.”

Details of the Incident
Following a post-mortem examination on Tuesday, the police formally identified Nahom Medhanie. Surveillance footage captured him sitting inside a white Nissan Juke moments before a suspect on a motorcycle approached and opened fire.
The assailant fled the scene on the same bike, and authorities have yet to make any arrests. Detectives are actively investigating and appealing for any dashcam or video footage that could assist in identifying the attacker.

Community Reacts as Police Investigate
Local witnesses reported hearing multiple loud bang sounds around the time of the shooting. Forensic teams meticulously combed the pavement for evidence, while neighbors left flowers near the crime scene in a poignant show of remembrance.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke acknowledged community concerns, stating, “We are aware of the concern that this will cause for the local community and want to reassure them that we are working hard to identify the attacker and bring them to justice.”
