Fatal Water Incident in Elthorne Park Leaves Family Devastated
A devastating tragedy unfolded in west London when a mother and her young son drowned after getting into difficulty in the water at Elthorne Park, Ealing. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the incident as a tragic accident and are treating the deaths as non-suspicious.
Details of the Incident
Emergency services responded swiftly to reports of two people struggling in the water near the River Brent just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Despite the rapid intervention of the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade, the 34-year-old mother and her seven-year-old son were pronounced dead at the scene.
The police have withheld their identities out of respect for the family, with next of kin already informed and receiving support from specialist officers. Authorities appealed for privacy during this profoundly difficult time.
Police Acknowledge Heroic Efforts
Detective Superintendent Pete Thackray of the Met’s West Area Command Unit expressed deep sorrow over the loss. “This is a tragic incident in which a woman and her young child have lost their lives. Our thoughts are with their loved ones,” he said.

Thackray also commended the bravery and dedication of first responders and members of the public, stating, “I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the first responders, and members of the public, who did their very best in an incredibly challenging situation.”
