A devastating tragedy unfolded in west London when a mother and her young son lost their lives after struggling in the water at Elthorne Park, Ealing. Emergency services responded swiftly, but despite their best efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Fatal Incident in Elthorne Park’s Water
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the victims were a 34-year-old mother and her seven-year-old son. Authorities are treating the deaths as a non-suspicious, tragic accident. Officers received reports just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday about two individuals in distress near the River Brent, which borders the park.
Emergency teams from the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade arrived promptly. They recovered the mother and child from the water and administered urgent medical care. Unfortunately, their efforts could not save the pair.
Police Statement and Family Support
The Metropolitan Police emphasized the sensitivity of the situation, confirming that next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support. Authorities have withheld the victims’ names to respect the family’s privacy during this heartbreaking time.
