Bravery in the Face of Danger
In a tense Christmas Eve robbery in Coventry, a shop worker demonstrated extraordinary courage when he confronted an armed assailant wielding a large kitchen knife. The robber, Jordan Peebles, 32, attempted to raid an off-licence but was ultimately trapped by the very person he threatened.

Quick Thinking Foils Armed Robbery
Peebles brandished a kitchen knife and assaulted the shop worker while stuffing his bag with stolen items. However, the worker’s swift response changed the outcome entirely. He escaped outside and promptly lowered the shop’s metal shutters, sealing Peebles inside the premises.

CCTV footage captured Peebles’ frantic attempts to force the shutters open, revealing his desperation as he realized he was trapped. Police arrived swiftly at the scene in Riley Square, where Peebles pleaded to be released before officers took him into custody.

Justice Served at Warwick Crown Court
Last week, Peebles appeared at Warwick Crown Court and pleaded guilty to robbery. The court sentenced him to four years and four months in prison, ensuring he faces consequences for his violent actions.
Police Praise Shop Worker’s Courage
Detective Sergeant Jay Aston of Coventry local CID commended the shop worker’s bravery, emphasizing the potential severity of the attack. “This was a shocking knifepoint robbery which could have resulted in death or serious injury,” Aston said. “The man showed incredible bravery and quick thinking to defend himself, leave the shop, and lower the shutters, trapping Peebles inside.”
Detective Sergeant Aston also acknowledged the rapid response of officers who arrived within minutes to make the arrest. “I hope Peebles will have time to reflect on his actions and choices while in prison and am proud of the work of all the officers involved,” he added.
