A devastating tragedy unfolded in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, when a six-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred on Anchor Drive just before noon on Sunday, sparking an urgent police investigation.
Fatal Collision in Ellesmere Port
At approximately 11:40 a.m., authorities received reports of a collision involving a young child and a black Infiniti FX30D. Emergency responders quickly attended the scene and met the boy and his family near the Whitby Sports and Social Club on their way to the hospital.
The child was rushed to the Countess of Chester Hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts. Cheshire Police confirmed the boy’s death, describing the incident as a heartbreaking loss.
Driver Arrested on Multiple Charges
Following the crash, police arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drug driving, and driving without a valid license. The suspect has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Sergeant Iain Condliffe urged anyone who witnessed the collision or has video footage to come forward. He emphasized the importance of gathering all available evidence to uncover the precise circumstances of the crash.
“This was a tragic incident in which a young child lost his life, and we are committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place,” said Condliffe. “We want to hear from anyone who saw the collision on Anchor Drive or who was near Whitby Sports and Social Club when the boy was treated.”
