The Hackney Museum is a local history museum located in Hackney, and celebrating, one of the most culturally diverse areas of Europe, which investigates the nature of immigration through objects, interactive displays, computer programs and oral-history recordings. Among an eclectic mix of artefacts and images are Daniel Defoe’s tombstone, a propaganda sheet from Nazi Germany, a Victorian fireplace and a Galatasaray football shirt. Hands-on children’s activities include the chance to load up a Saxon ship, try on period costumes and make Victorian matchboxes in a rave against the clock.
