The recently built St. James Theatre has only been open since 2012, and is the first new theatre in central London for almost 30 years. The company behind it had struggled to find intimate theatres to develop their productions, which led to them spending over a year in the basement of Café Royal. Their new home, which is a short walk from Buckingham Palace, has two main rooms: a 312 seat theatre for plays, and a 100 seat studio theatre for stand-up comedy, jazz, cabaret and more. Additionally the St. James Brasserie has a menu of crowd-pleasing European dishes and the bar opens all day till after the shows end. There is wi-fi throughout the whole building and performances can be broadcast worldwide via the internet.
