The Centre
The regeneration of Walton-on-Thames town centre, which was originally built in the 1960s, began when developers of The Heart, O&H Properties, acquired the site in 2004. Following the subsequent redevelopment of the area and £150 million investment, The Heart opened in 2006 and has become the centre of the Walton-on-Thames community.
The Heart complex comprises of a mixed-use development including 59 retail units, 279 apartments and a 799 space public car park, a gym, and a state of the art library, in a gross floor area of just under 1.1 million square feet.
The commercial and residential areas of The Heart come together to create a vibrant and attractive development that has added greatly to the Walton-on-Thames community. The location of the Heart, right next to the Walton-on-Thames High Street, provides a central area within the town centre.
The Heart’s award winning redevelopment is held up as a model for town centre redevelopment, with a number of city councils and local authorities aspiring to achieve what O&H has done, through the regeneration scheme.
