Sir Rod Stewart Commends King Charles’s Commanding US State Visit
Sir Rod Stewart lauded King Charles as “absolutely superb” for his recent four-day state visit to the United States, praising the monarch for decisively handling a challenging moment. At a glittering event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the King’s Trust at the Royal Albert Hall, the legendary singer boldly declared, “You put that little ratbag in his place.”

During the evening, Sir Rod addressed Charles and Camilla, commending the King’s diplomatic finesse. “May I say, well done in the Americas. You were superb, absolutely superb,” Stewart said with genuine admiration. The monarch responded with a lighthearted laugh, while Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood looked on with a smile.
King Charles’s Impactful Speech and Diplomatic Engagements
The state visit saw King Charles deliver a powerful address to the US Congress, tackling pivotal issues such as NATO, the conflict in Ukraine, and global environmental concerns—topics that have sparked debate within the White House. Hosted by former President Donald Trump and Melania Trump, the King masterfully navigated politically charged waters.
At a state dinner, Charles injected humor, quipping to his American hosts, “If it wasn’t for us, you’d be speaking French!”
Sir Rod’s Playful Commentary on the US Response
Back at the Royal Albert Hall event, Sir Rod speculated on how the King’s message landed with his US audience. “Exactly, that’s it – it went right over his head, right over his head,” he said, implying the White House might have missed the point.
Turning to the Queen Consort, Sir Rod praised her husband’s performance: “I was just congratulating your husband on his wonderful performance in the Americas – so great, so brave, so proud.”
Star-Studded Celebration of the King’s Trust’s 50th Anniversary
The evening’s red carpet welcomed King Charles and Camilla, who were greeted by TV hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. The Queen Consort dazzled in a purple lace cocktail dress by Fiona Clare, paired with a magenta crepe cape by Dior and exquisite amethyst and diamond earrings once owned by the Duchess of Kent, mother of Queen Victoria.

The event honored young people supported by the King’s Trust, with celebrities like singer Alesha Dixon and Lily Collins from Emily In Paris presenting awards. The King and Queen also mingled with performers including Rita Ora, Anne-Marie, Craig David, Skye Newman, and Jools Holland.
Prominent British actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Sir Idris Elba, alongside Hollywood icon George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney, added star power to the celebration.
