The Rose Theatre is London’s most historic theatre, the first Elizabethan Theatre on Bankside and home to many of Shakespeare’s and Marlowe’s first productions. Plans are in place to complete the excavation and open it to the public permanently.
Exhibition on the site of Bankside’s first theatre; the place where Shakespeare learned his craft. The site was discovered by Museum of London archaeologists in 1989. Guided tours of the site are offered by Shakespeare’s Globe.
