Landslide Swallow Cars In Street In Baltimore

Dramatic footage captures the moment the earth fell away from the edge of a Baltimore street, taking a row of parked cars with it.

Footage has captured the moment a Baltimore street collapsed, sending cars sliding down a steep embankment on to a railway.

The landslide, initially thought to have been a sinkhole, happened after a 120-year-old retaining wall buckled and caved in amid heavy rain in the Charles Village neighbourhood in city’s northeast.

Many of those watching the earth start to move screamed as the collapse swallowed more than half a dozen cars and a streetlight on Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses say the ground shook when the wall collapsed

No-one was injured.

All the houses along the street had to be evacuated, and officials say the residents may have to be kept out of their homes for up to 40 days.
