Tragedy struck on the A228 Boyle Way in East Peckham as a pony and trap carrying a young girl, a woman, and a man collided with a tipper truck, resulting in multiple fatalities and critical injuries.
The devastating crash occurred at 6:25 pm on Wednesday, when a 29-year-old Kent man driving a DAF tipper truck struck the horse-drawn carriage while both were traveling in the same direction. The incident unfolded between the junctions of Bandridges Road and Hale Street, near Tonbridge.

Immediate Emergency Response and Fatalities Confirmed
Emergency crews from Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene. Authorities confirmed that the man in his 30s riding in the trap died instantly at the site of the collision.
Tragically, a young girl traveling in the carriage was transported to hospital but later pronounced dead. The woman with her remains in critical condition. The pony pulling the trap also succumbed to injuries and died at the scene.

Investigation Underway and Police Appeal
Kent Police arrested the truck driver in connection with the crash and continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Officers urge anyone who witnessed the incident or captured dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the inquiry.
