Hampstead Theatre

Located in the London Borough of Camden, Hampstead Theatre specializes in commissioning and producing new writing.
We have a modern auditorium which has been designed to be as flexible as possible in both staging and seating configurations.

Movable seating blocks also allow for the auditorium to be changed from a more traditional end-on configuration with a raised stage, to thrust or traverse layouts where the audience is level with the performance area.

The forestage can be raised, or lowered to allow for an orchestra pit. The main section of stage can also be raised or lowered to change the relationship between performers and audience or to create a rake on stage, and contains removable sections for creating traps. The auditorium is fully air-conditioned.

Hampstead Theatre has seen many famous actors tread its boards over the years – from Edward Fox, John Hurt and Rowan Atkinson in the 60s and 70s to Alan Rickman.

Get there by tube/train: Swiss Cottage, (Jubilee Line) Leave the tube station through exit 2 and the Theatre is directly ahead of you.Or Finchley Road, (Metropolitan Line) Turn right out of the station and walk along Finchley Road (approx 10 minutes) to Swiss Cottage. Eton Avenue is on your left, across Swiss Cottage roundabout.

Additional information: Hampstead Theatre has a ground floor entrance and push button controlled entrance door.

We have level access to lifts to all levels and to both the main auditorium and Hampstead Downstairs. These are fitted with low level controls, audio announcements, relief controls and Braille lettering.

There is flat level access seats available please contact the box office for further details.

Wheelchair spaces are available in both the main auditorium and Hampstead Downstairs (please inform the Box Office when you book your tickets if you require a wheelchair space so we can find the best space for you).

We have unlocked accessible toilets on all levels.

There is a drop counter at the Box Office and Cafe Bar.
Being a member on the Access Scheme provides you the facility of regular updates and without the need to show proof of eligibility each time you visit.
