Take a step back in time and visit the former home of artist, designer and craftsman Frank Dickinson (1874-1961). The Grade II* interior was created entirely by Dickinson, inspired by the ideals of John Ruskin and William Morris and contains Dickinson’s paintings, hand-made furniture, furnishings, metalwork and carving, in a unique fusion of Art Nouveau and the English Arts and Crafts style. With very limited finances Dickinson designed and built the house himself between 1902-04 – the ultimate in DIY!

In 2012 Little Holland House was given a Bronze Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme for its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint by increasing insulation, renewing water tanks and replacing tungsten lighting, which has now (2014) been upgraded to a Silver Award, recognising the increased environmental effects of replacing the boiler with an energy efficient condensing boiler.

The former home of artist, designer and craftsman Frank Dickinson (1874-1961). Designed and built by Dickinson between 1902-04, the Grade II* listed interior was created entirely by him, inspired by the ideals of Ruskin, Carlyle & Morris, in an eclectic mix of Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau and Glasgow School style. Rescued by the local Council in 1972, restored and opened to the public in 1974, it stands as a unique testament to the power and influence of the English Arts and Crafts Movement.
