Sam Battle Gears Up for Spectacular Eurovision Debut
Sam Battle, known worldwide as Look Mum No Computer, is primed to electrify the Eurovision stage in Vienna with a groundbreaking performance featuring a specially crafted “mega synthesiser.” This Lincolnshire-born innovator is set to perform his distinctive track Eins, Zwei, Drei before millions, promising a show that pushes the boundaries of live electronic music.

A Balancing Act: New Father and Eurovision Contender
Preparing for Eurovision has demanded relentless dedication from Battle, who recently embraced fatherhood. “It’s been a lot of work,” he admits, blending the intense rehearsal schedule with caring for his newborn. He humorously reflects, “If I weren’t prepping for Vienna, I’d probably be changing my baby’s nappy.”
Despite the challenges, Battle beams with pride about the production: “I’m really proud of what we’ve pulled together and can’t wait to bring it to life on stage.”
Innovative Collaboration Elevates the Performance
Working alongside acclaimed choreographer Fredrik Rydman, Battle has crafted a visually and sonically immersive experience. “Fredrik’s been brilliant, constantly pushing the creative limits of what we want to achieve on stage,” he states, hinting at a performance set to captivate audiences.
Central to the act is a custom-built “mega synthesiser,” designed exclusively for this event. Although some of Battle’s more ambitious ideas were curtailed—”I don’t think the BBC trusted my welding,” he jokes—the final setup promises to mesmerize viewers.
“I won’t reveal everything now—you’ll have to tune in for the semi-final on Thursday to see it live,” Battle teases.

Who Is Sam Battle? Electronic Music’s Maverick
Since launching his YouTube channel in 2013, Battle has captivated over 1.4 million followers and amassed more than 85 million views. His inventive approach to electronic instruments—building an organ from Furby toys, blending a synthesiser with a Raleigh Chopper bicycle, and creating a triple oscillator synthesiser from Nintendo Game Boys—has earned him a devoted global fanbase.
Esteemed Eurovision host Graham Norton praised Battle’s entry as a fresh and bold departure from previous UK acts. “The song is unlike anything we’ve ever sent before, and I can absolutely imagine the entire arena rallying behind it,” Norton remarked.
Eurovision’s 70th Anniversary Amid Controversy
This year’s Eurovision, marking its 70th edition, unfolds amid controversy. Several countries—including Iceland, the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, and Slovenia—have announced withdrawals for the 2026 contest in protest against Israel’s participation. This followed the introduction of stricter rules after allegations of Israeli government interference in last year’s competition.
The majority of Eurovision members voted to uphold the new regulations, confirming Israel’s place. Israeli broadcaster KAN condemned the withdrawal attempts as a “cultural boycott.”
Countdown to Eurovision 2024 in Vienna
Sam Battle will represent the UK in the semi-finals on 12 and 14 May, aiming to secure a spot in the grand final on 16 May at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle. The world will watch as the UK delivers one of its most innovative and daring Eurovision performances to date.
